my angel baby turns 7... and one of my favorite videos on youtube.

my sweet angel k turned 7 years old today! being her mama really proves that time flies when you're having fun. she was sent here to me from God, but i don't know what i did to deserve being her mother. EVERY night, without fail, i tell her, "goodnight angel. i love being your mommy and you are the baby i've always wanted". i think that it's important that our children know that we love the role God has allowed us to have. i don't want her to assume anything. it's not a secret, nor is it something i feel some of the time. each life is a miracle, and she's my miracle...and today my miracle turned seven. thank you Lord for allowing me to be her mama.
birthday festivities pics to come soon!

here comes the sun

cold, gray weather really gets me down. so i've been super-pumped that the sun has been peeking out lately!
even though we are working on learning how to ride a big-girl bike, my little angel k snags a ride whenever she can. she's definitely her mother's daughter...

sunlight and fruit!...and vintage pyrex!

and, a little crafting...had to break out the needle and thread for these!

FOR TODAY ~~~ monday, december, 15, 2008...
Outside my window...
it's getting sooo cold! yesterday it was 70--today, around 30! the wind is really picking up!
I am thinking...
about all the things i need to do before CHRISTmas! the list is never-ending! and about how much i love homeschooling my daughter!
I am thankful for...
the blessing of a warm home to live in, when so many in the world go without and are without a home tonight.
From the learning rooms...
new wall words and a new scripture to memorize for the new week!
From the kitchen...
tonight for dinner:
paninis and onion rings... and salad to cancel out the onion rings ; )
I am wearing...
my *uniform*--soft t-shirt, yoga pants, bare feet
I am creating...
holiday tags for gifts
I am going...
to try to make some hot green tea and get to bed early tonight!
I am reading...
many lovely new blogs. and i have stacks of holiday magazines to look through too!
I am praying...
my mom and sister arrive home safely after visiting us today! so glad they came!
I am hearing...
holiday music and little angel cutting paper like crazy! what craft is she working on now? i wonder. i'll figure it out later when i find teeny-tiny pieces of paper, yarn or play dough stuck to the bottom of my feet...
Around the house...
candles lit, soft holiday music....mmmm...it's wintertime!
One of my favorite things...
seeing lots of family these past few days!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
warm tea on a cold day!

where he began

ten years ago this christmas, my husband had a very special gift waiting for me under the tree. the gift was my westie, dawson. he was in a large wrapped box, wearing a big red bow around his little neck! i am a major dog lover, so is my husband...and needless to say, i went nuts! (we are also blessed to have one of these guys in our family too...and we love him dearly too. he just wasn't the first one..you know how it goes...) since that year, '98, dh and i have not bought each other christmas gifts at all, opting to do things like the angel tree. and since that year, dh has only once topped the gift of dawson --and that would be our daughter! there is no other dog like dawson--he watches television and turns the t.v. on and off, he is incredibly smart and we are convinced that he understands english perfectly. every year at christmas, he often lays under the tree, like he knows that he started there or something! and i just think that he is so adorable under there that i don't mind --so much-- that he lays all over my *tree skirt*, which is a cream chenille vintage bedspread! he gets away with everything.

i want to make sure that my daughter understands that christmas is not all about santa, christmas trees and rudolph. i want her to know the true meaning of the holiday. something that we have been enjoying lately is reading this wonderful little book for the advent season. i found mine a few years ago on ebay for pretty cheap. great book for us, as we have...ahem...limited attention spans...the entries are meaningful while being short and sweet!
